Business judgement. Hands-on engineering. An understanding of people.
Three perspectives shape how I approach the same piece of work.
FounderIs it worth doing?
EngineerCan we make it work?
PsychotherapistHow will people engage?
A useful implementation needs to make sense for the business and for the people using it. I bring those questions into the room with the engineering, and stay close to the work as we try something concrete.
Experience behind the approach.
Founder
Choosing where to put limited time.
Five years building an LLM-enabled product startup, alongside consultancy across personal agent setup, internal AI work and customer-facing agents. Recent engagements include travel and EV sector businesses.
Engineer & technical leader
Moving between the question and the build.
More than two decades of full-stack development and technical leadership, including CTO work. I can stay hands-on with the implementation as the business decisions develop.
People & psychology
Helping people learn and work with change.
A degree in AI with psychology, followed by psychotherapy training. That informs how I listen, support someone learning an unfamiliar tool, and think about change inside a team. ExFu engagements are AI consultancy.

Fractional and contract work.
I take on fractional and contract engagements, with remote work preferred. I’m based in Bristol and can arrange in-person sessions.
If you are a founder, a CTO, an internal advocate or a recruiter with a suitable brief, I’d be glad to hear what you are trying to move forward. If you are looking for help with your own workload, personal support may be the right place to start.
ExFu is my AI consultancy and tooling brand, operated by WhaleyBear Ltd.
